Clinton endured? It isn't as if she won't have to withstand similar attacks. The difference between Clinton and Obama vis a vis the "guilt by association" attacks is that Republicans have a viceral hate for Sen. Clinton, the mere mention of her name drives some of them into a mouth-foaming state. Many independent voters simply don't like her and aren't going to be convinced otherwise <i>because</i> of those 16 years, they've already made up their minds about her. It terms of at least the possibility to win them over, with Clinton, it's a wash. Her negatives are written in stone for some people, with Obama, some of them can at least be swayed.
