Negotiating Democracy: Brazile, Obama Plot to Keep Hillary off Convention Ballot

Obama and his minions are planning on staging some political deja vu by preventing Hillary’s name from being put into nomination, much in the same way Obama forced out Alice Palmer. Seems he feels he can only win elections if he runs unopposed. Not surprising, considering his enormous lack of experience and a resume thinner than Kate Moss.

Except, this time, there is no legal pretense, just his own blind ambition and ego that demands a 76,000 seat stadium and a speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Germany before he’s even the official nominee, much less the president.

Here are his minions, including the infamous Donna Brazile, trying to explain how following Party legalities and requirements would be too much of a blow to Obama’s ego [H/T to Riverdaughter]:

The problem is “there’s a strong feeling” that Sen. Clinton’s delegates need the chance to vote for her, Mr. Devine said. Many are still angry with a party decision that they feel deprived her of delegates from Michigan and Florida. “You don’t want a situation where anybody feels they’ve been cheated,” he said.

A second option would be for Sen. Clinton to be nominated, complete with laudatory speeches and happy floor demonstrations. By prearrangement, Sen. Clinton then would take her name out of consideration and endorse Sen. Obama’s nomination.

“There’s nothing symbolically wrong to putting her name in,” followed by a scripted withdrawal, said Ms. Brazile. But the spectacle of a rapturous welcome for Sen. Clinton would be irresistible to television and could embarrass Sen. Obama.

~snip~

The Obama campaign said Monday that the Illinois senator would accept the nomination at the 76,000-seat stadium where the Denver Broncos football team plays so that thousands of nondelegates could attend. But the campaign hasn’t settled other key questions about the convention, including whether Sen. Clinton’s name will be put into nomination, said Obama spokesman Bill Burton.

Sen. Clinton’s campaign office didn’t answer emails seeking comment.  Under party rules, Sen. Clinton’s huge delegate count gives her the right to put her name into nomination. “But do you do it?” asked Ms. Brazile.  ”Politically, does it heighten tensions?” [emphasis added]

First and foremost, the “problem” isn’t that we, Senator Clinton’s delegates and her over 18 million supporters, want and deserve the opportunity to vote for her, the problem is that you all see it as a problem. And you’re damn right that if we don’t get the chance to vote for her, we will not only “feel cheated” we will have been cheated. And trust me, if we are cheated in this way, compiled with the other numerous injustices of the primary, there will be no unity. Not now, not in November, not ever.

Second, under no circumstances will we accept some sort of “prearranged” condition under which Hillary is forced to remove her name from consideration so that the Chosen One may be exalted. Democracy isn’t a damn dog and pony show! Both names should be put into nomination. Hell, throw Edwards in there too. Speeches should be given and all delegates, automatic (super) and pledged, should be allowed to cast their ballot. Anything less is not Democracy. After all, Shirley Chisholm, the first African American and the first woman to run for the top spot of a major party received 152 votes on the first ballot and during the roll call in 1972 and she did not even win a primary state! For Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and her delegates to not be given their earned opportunity and voice is unthinkable.

And as for you, Donna, I don’t give a rat’s a** what does or does not embarrass Obama. Frankly, his unbridled ambition, and inability to form a sentence without the aid of a TelePrompTer should already be embarrassing.

Embarrassment is one thing and injustice is another.

It is inconceivable that there is even discussion of not placing Hillary’s name into nomination. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is the first woman to ever win a presidential primary or caucus contest. Beyond that, she is the winner of the popular vote and boasts a significant delegate count. Indeed, she would be the pledged delegate leader but for unscrupulous and undemocratic happenings at the Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting.

Moreover, I thought we were against “changing the rules in the middle of the game” Donna?!?! So why are there even questions when clearly, “under party rules” Senator Clinton has a right to put her name into nomination? If he’s won, then he’s won. Why the need to fix the convention and subvert Democracy (AGAIN) because the Almighty Obama won’t be fully and unequivocally worshipped? No need to answer, Donna, we already know the answer: BECAUSE HE HASN’T WON DIDDLY, FRIGGIN SQUAT!

And just in case you didn’t know, 76,000 chanting sycophants on constant kool-aid IV drip will not be enough to silence the millions of Hillary supporters. We can smell what you’re cooking from here Donna, and it stinks to high heaven.

Now more than ever, we all need to be working with The Denver Group to ensure that there is an open, free and truly democratic convention.

The goals of The Denver Group are simple:

1) An open convention.

2) Senator Clinton’s name placed in nomination. No symbolic roll call vote.

3) Speeches allowed by supporters of Senator Clinton on
behalf of her candidacy.

4) A genuine roll call vote with Senator Clinton as a legitimate candidate.

5) No coronation.

It’s a damn shame that grassroots organizations have to formed to ensure that the Democratic Party is indeed democratic.

Responses

They don’t want democracy, they want sybolism.
Fake seals, big rallies, stirring speeches, all symbolic.
So far, it has seemed to a lot of people like magic.
But most adults know that all magic is stagecraft, even when they pretend to be bewitched for the sake of the children.
The problem the Obama camp has now is that even little kids can see the wires.

agreed josgirl.

In addition, I think they are well aware that Obama hasn’t won anything yet, are are scared Hillary will be the victor.

Hey you Hillary supporters are getting so screwed. I am trying to build support for a a McCain/Clinton ticket. You may think it far fetched but, watch this…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLo-kSct6zE

The parties themselves would absolutely FREAK but I tell you the candidates obviously like and respect one another.

Full disclosure, I worked for John from N.H.-Fla.

I keep thinking McCain-Clinton too. It would totally freak the conservative Republicans. I am less familiar w/ Democrats so I’m not sure how they’d react. But I think it would win big time, AND I would feel safe, becuase I think they both love America.

I will do almost anything to keep Barack Obama out of the presidency. I think he is a pathological narcissist, and I think he is unbearably risky for the country I love.

NObama and Brazilenut are power hungry elitists
whose mission is to deny American citizens the freedom to chose their own candidate! They are downright dangerous to democracy!!
No American patriot should stand still and allow
such disregard and damage to our democratic principles!!
Hillary will win if that Roll Call is heard!!
To deny that is to deny democracy and freedom.
I will never vote for Obama!!!
Give me Hillary or I will Take John McCain!

Hillary needs to be on the ballot to represent us, her supporters who voted for her.
As far as it being an embarrassment to Obama, he should have been embarrassed long ago when he disenfranchised Michigan and Florida, along with the dirty politics he played throughout this campaign.
If Obama really cares about the Democratic Party, (who happens to be WE THE PEOPLE) then why would he resist an open and fair role call at the convention?
Hillary has earned her place at the convention!

I think a McCain-Clinton ticket would sweep Independents. I think a lot of evangelicals wouldn’t know what to do and might just stay home. However, Republicans have long been rabid against Hillary for no reasons. Who knows what they would do.

Although, I think Hill is pretty committed to the Democratic Party even though she’s still pulling knives out of her back, as fresh ones are being applied every day.

DonnaD, and Stop Obama,

I was sooo shocked and angered when I read their words. You all are correct, that Obama and Brazile don’t care about Democracy or rules or the people. It would certainly take more than one ballot for Obama to get nominated, if he did at all, if Hill’s name was put into nomination.

If you’re trying to be prez, you need to be able to deal with a bit of embarrassment, especially if that is the cost of Democracy.

Full disclouser, I’m an Independent and McCain supporter. However, a lot of this craziness reminds me of a quote (which I’m proabaly mangling) that ‘Democrats shouldn’t act like Republicans to win votes’. It’s sad to see the Democrat party react to the Bush administration by trying to match it with its own blind persuit of power.

Agreed kmorrison!

This is exactly why many of us are disgusted and are leaving the Party. Many of us became Democrats because they were supposed to be the good guys. That they are betraying us and acting is such a way is pushing us away.

BTW, I visit your site as well and appreciate what you’re doing. Thanks for your comment.

Has anyone reminded Ms. Brazile of her comments a few months ago on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopolous that there would be ‘blood in the streets’ in Denver if the super delegates vote put Hillary over the top… what is the difference now?

I love the Idea of McCain/Clinton ticket and you can see the real chemistry these two have together. Also I remember Bill Clinton saying John is one of Hillarys best friends so I would be all in and I am a soon to be ex democrat who will vote for that ticket as will my whole democratic family. This would be a huge victory alreadt 1/3 of Hillarys biggest fundraisers are supporting McCain.I also would pay to see the reaction of the DNC and the pundits as well as the almighty ine…LMAO…It would be a landslide victory ticket with true bi partisian leadership and then Hillary could be the next prez for 8 years when John is done…Ernie in NEW JERSEY

Just another Crazy Uncle? It has been widly reported that Michelle Obama practically grew up in Jesse Jacksons house, and is best friends with one of Jesse Jacksons daughters! Jesse Jr is one of Obamas campaign directors, and one of Jesse Jackson kids is one of Barack Obamas daughters god parents.Do not be so Niave people,This is the Politics of Chicago and the Politice of Obama! We are all aware that the Obama Campaign uses the race card anytime it is convenient for the Obama Campaign, as it usually always benefit’s none other then the Obama campaign. This is just another example of another long time Obama cohort { Reverend Wright, Father Pfleger, and now Jesse Jackson } making racial statements to deflect attention away from a very problematic time in the Obama campaign. By Jesse Jackson taking this hit in the media,he is getting all the media’s attention off of all the talk of Obama breaking his major campaign promises, in particular The FISA Bill, which Obama had promised his supporters that he would against and decided to vote for the FISA BILL.Yes he has broken another major campaign promise, and has had a very tough week or two, as he has been taking a lot of heat from the media, and even his own supporters. To “deflect” the attention away from Obamas political inexperience, and his FISA Vote yesterday, It is just a little to convenient for The Obama Campaign, headed by Jesse Jackson JR. by the way, that comments made by Jesse Jackson Sr. made Sunday suddenly broke yesterday.Just after Obamas key vote supporting President Bush’s FISA Bill that had been threatening to break even Obamas staunchest of supporters. As of yesterday Obama was being criticized daily by media outlets and supporters alike, about the many flip flops made by the Candidate of Hope and Change, and now even Jesse Jr. came to Obamas defense “Ripping” Jesse Sr’s words, thus successfully deflecting the media attention away from Obamas Hard move to the right! Well played Camp Obama. Now all the pundit’s are talking about is Jesse Jackson not Barack Obama. This is not the Politics of Change, nor is it mere Politics as usual, This is the Politics of Obama. If anyone would like to see how deeply Jesse Jackson is planted in the Obama campaign, go to C-Span and watch the JUNE 29 TH Rainbow Coalition tapes, where you can watch Jesse Jackson and other African American leaders planning the first 30 day’s of The Obama presidency. To bad that it has not been reported how Jesse Jackson Jr. has been treating any elected delegates that did not support Obama thru out this election season.

I agree with JERZYERNIE. Jackson’s incident is a typical Obama’s deflection tactic. If the news are bad, expect an endorsement - it was done all the time during the primaries- or something else. Obama is also playing the victim-race card.

Where in the world was Alice Palmer during the primaries insofar as the MSM political talk shows were concerned. Was she ever on old Russert’s “Meet the Press?” Never heard about it. Was she ever on the MSNBC/CNN Obama shill shows? Never saw her. So if she was out there actively stumping for Hillary, why wasn’t she highly visible to all of us, considering what The Pretender as his Chicago thugs had done to her way back when. Why? I want to know why the Clinton campaign didn’t get her booked on as many TV spots as possible. Was it because the shills wouldn’t have her? Why????????

Sheltiemom,

If the Clinton campaign had put Alice out there they would have been accused of all kinds of dirty tricks. Further, as an African American, Alice would have faced some really awful threats and such.

The MSM did cover to story for a bit. But I agree, she should have been everywhere getting the word out.

“It’s a damn shame that grassroots organizations have to formed to ensure that the Democratic Party is indeed democratic.”

Respectfully, I disagree.

This is what should’ve been occurring all along with not just the Democrat Party–sorry, but I and many, many others such as Republicans, conservatives, Democrats, etc., refuse to call it the Democratic Party and have done so for a long time–but also the Republican Party.

In ways perhaps that Obama and those of his camp and following don’t or can’t understand, or are afraid to grasp, they’ve really done a service to the Democrat Party and national politics.

Now, we’ve got to defeat him to drive that point home as deeply as possible–that’s it’s still “we the people” who count.

I understand your disagreement CKA.

I just think people that claim to be progressives shouldn’t be subverting Democracy in this way. It’s shocking to me that a countermovement has to be formed to make Democrats adhere to their own rules, and the rules of Democracy.

I guess I just believed in the Party too much, and bought into the good guy/bad guy dichotomy, and now I’m fully disillusioned.

I understand that today DNC officials assured concerned callers from the grass roots group, P.U.M.A. Pac that Hillary Clinton will be on the first ballot for a roll call vote at the convention.

jbjd,

Someone else mentioned that as well. I hope that is true. At least I won’t have to be a one woman riot at the Convention. Not putting her name into nomination would just be too much to handle.

Thanks for the info.

You know I agree about the Jesse Jackson comment, I thought the timing was so transparent, I am glad someone else pointed that out. This man is sooooo good at deflecting and using race, I don’t understand this country, How can they be so blind and naive. The outrage about this comment is unbelievable, I remember worse comments made about HRC and their was never any outrage in fact the MSM never reported it and if they did they successfully turned it around to help Obama. I am so frustrated and feel like hitting my head against the wall. I will be in Denver even if I have to walk there.

“There’s nothing symbolically wrong to putting her name in,” followed by a scripted withdrawal, said Ms. Brazile. But the spectacle of a rapturous welcome for Sen. Clinton would be irresistible to television and could embarrass Sen. Obama.” - This is absolutely ridiculous!

Even from across the pond here in Britain, Obama is starting to look more and more like a loser.

I’ve said for a long time Obama reminds me of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, during his rise to power, a shallow man driven by personal ambition and without any political substance.

And we all know how the traitor and war criminal Blair turned out. He sold out his country, his party and its socialist agenda and the people who voted for him in order to secure self aggrandisment by becoming Bush’s best buddy.

I’m glad the reports of global infatuation with Obama seem to be untrue. Thanks so much for your perspective.

As a side note, and as a crazed Harry Potter fan, I was wondering if your name had anything to do with boggarts from HP. I visited your blog (which is nice by the way).

Thanks for your comment.

I sincerely doubt that Jesse Jackson realized that not only was his mic open, they were continuing to tape during a break.
People use those breaks to speak confidentially all the time, believing that even if they can be overheard in the booth, nobody is likely paying attention since they’re on a break.
If he knew he could be overheard, why did he lower his voice?
He thought the only people who might hear him were actually in the room.

Josgirl and Laurie,

I don’t know what to think about the Jackson issue. I personally think it was a mistake on his part, but that the feigned indignation and outrage are being manufactured by the Obama camp and the media.

You are right Laurie, no one was outraged when Randy Rhodes called Hillary and Geraldine “big f*cking whores” at an event advertised on Obama’s website. I’ve just stopped watching the MSM, I don’t like the Twilight Zone.

Thank you for your informative article. I did not know that Senator Clinton may not appear on convention ballot (though a thoughtful post indicates she’ll be on the first roll call). Nor did I realize the magnitude of the Ill Senator’s move to Mile High Stadium on the last day of the convention and its impact on the MSM’s coverage for the viewing public. So, we may only see the last day of the convention at Mile High Stadium telecast? What about the rest of the convention? What about the impact on the Republican convention? Not only does this suck, its pretty scary to think this can actually happen. WTF?

I appreciate the intelligence and the objectivity with which this site is run… You have a great site and I come here often when I am trying to explain my positions to people as You have put into wonderfully intelligent words what I am wanting to say. Thank you so much for your candid responses to people who come to your site and to your thoughtful responses to those who don’t agree with you… I would love to meet you and talk personally… I hope you don’t mind, but I love an intelligent discussion with thought provoking dialogue… Thank You again iamonly1

Aww, thanks BMW! You can email me at iam0nly1.donedems@gmail.com and we can see if some sort of meeting can be arranged.

Thanks so much for your compliment and comment :)

Hello
I’m not sure I understand what the problem would be in putting Senator Clinton’s name in at the National Convention. If 18 million of us voted for her why not give her a fair chance? Is it to difficult for people to understand that some of us want to see Senator Clinton as President of the USA? If her name is listed as and she does not win then it will be fair, the way it is now so many of us definately think our votes don’t count. America is about freedom of speack, freedom of vote. Does the Democrte party want people saying our votes don’t count, why vote????

B. Johnson… they have already said it… because they disinfranchised the voters of Michigan and Florida…

Sen. O’Bummer doesn’t want Hillary to be anywhere near him. Just like his Senate run in Chicago, he removed his competition by using loopholes in the system.

IF Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s name is NOT on the nomination ballot, WE WILL see to it that Obama loses the presidential race. I do believe that WE are stronger than any number of college kids over 17. We won’t back down. No threat- just fact.

Just one more thing- I bet if you announced that she will be in the running for nominee in Denver, her debt would be paid off in a very short time and more money would be rolling in for the GE- but not until. CAN’T STAND BARACK !!!

THE PUMAS ARE TOTALLY JUSTIFIED …

1. Contrary to what Obamabots say …
Obama and Hillary were in a dead heat,
when the DNC pressured Hillary into not
only conceding, but campaigning for Obama.
2. Obama is once again in a dead heat, but now
with McCain, even though Obamabots act like
Obama has already won (like they did in the
primaries against Hillary). So, this means that
half of the Democrats, and all the Republicans
(3/4 of America) dIdn’t want Obama. Plus, he
didn’t even win the popular vote, and refused a
revote in Michigan and Florida.
3. Obama has the thinnest resume in politics, and
he won state legislature and Senator by
disqualifications of his opponents, not by earned
experience, or votes.
4. Obama’s one claim to fame is being a community
organizer, where he boasts of registering voters.
Then he took their votes away from them, by
disqualifying his opponents on technicalities, prior
to the election.
5. Obama’s mentor of 20 years, was an anti-American
racist … not to mention other unsavory associations.
6. Obama is simply buying the election, since he’s
good at fund raising … hardly a qualification to be
President of the United States.
7. The media never vetted Obama, and they are
giving him a free ride, plus more than twice the
print and air time as McCain, as they did against
Hillary.
8. 90% of blacks are voting for Obama, because he is
black, while the campaign gained ground by
accusing most opponents of racism.
9. Obamabots were, and are extremely nasty and sarcastic
towards Hillary supporters, as well as McCain supporters.
10. Pumas should be applauded for putting country before party …
especially a party that did not represent them, and a party
which highjacked the nomination for Obama.

REPLACE OBAMA WITH HILLARY AT THE CONVENTION !!!
