Hillary Rising: Superdelegates Switch, Hillary Besting Obama Against McCain

The tides are certainly turning. Hillary Rodham Clinton continues to gain support, and is, in fact, out pacing Obama in current polls against McCain. Senator Clinton is still a more formidable candidate for president than the presumptuous nominee, and she’s suspended her campaign.

Rasmussen reports:

However, McCain fares better against Obama than he does against two other prominent Democrats. New York Senator Hillary Clinton leads McCain by eight points, 50% to 42%. Former Vice President Al Gore, the Democratic presidential nominee in 2000, leads McCain 50% to 43%.

These numbers help explain why Election 2008 is competitive even though events so heavily favor the Democrats — because the Republicans are on course to nominate their strongest possible general election candidate but the Democrats are not. Perhaps even more importantly, the data suggests that voters don’t see a potential McCain Administration as the third term of President Bush. [emphasis added]

It’s also important and stunning to note, that Hillary Clinton also does better than Al Gore against McCain, albeit by one percentage point. Hillary Clinton is the Democratic standard bearer and the choice of the majority of Americans, and she’s not the presumptive nominee.

Finally, people are realizing that Obama is not the strongest candidate against McCain. If you can’t out perform a candidate who has suspended her campaign and called for the Party to unite behind you, you simply can’t perform.

Apparently, the superdelegates are catching on as well. Alegre is reporting that 8 superdelegates who had declared for Senator Obama are now expressing that, given the chance, they will vote for Hillary at the Convention. Alegre got the word directly from our beloved PUMA spokesperson, Will Bower:

“A large phone banking effort to the super d’s combined with Obama’s flips and poor presumptive nominee performance, etc have yielded doubts within the super delegates, enough that 3 elected and 5 DNC members have confided that should they have the opportunity to do so, they will vote for Hillary.” [emphasis added]

This isn’t nearly over.

Which explains why Obama, Brazile, Dean and others are trying to keep Hillary off the ballot at the Convention. Hillary Rodham Clinton is clearly the strongest candidate. She finished the primary season with the momentum, winning the popular vote and the overwhelming majority of states post March 4th, even South Dakota which was projected as a win for Obama, after Obama had been declared inevitable and the deafening cries for Hillary to leave the race had reached fever pitch.

There are only two options: Hillary or McCain ‘08.

Give me a break. I’m sure that if Hillary were nominated the poll would swing the opposite direction. Have you thought that maybe she looks better to some because we aren’t looking at her right now? Its kind of like when you break up with someone and then really want them back until they are back and you remember why you didn’t want them. I bet if Hillary were in the news her and her husbands dealings wouldn’t be getting the best press.

I’m sorry though, that was silly to ask you if you thought that because by the name of your website I can tell what your train of “thought” is. Its to parrot all the right wing talking points about Obama in order to get people to vote for McCain (which is the exact opposite of Hillaries policies.)

At least come out from under your rock and admit what you really are, you are not pro-Hillary, you don’t care about her policies. give me a break you mindless parrot.

Wake up! Stop aiding McCain and support our Democratic candidate. Obama ‘08!

We’re awake. Seems like some of the super delegates are waking up, too. There’s still time to nominate the Dem who can win.

Ben,

Your “knowledge” of how statistics and polls work is woefully inadequate. Usually, when one has been declared the presumptive nominee they see a bump in the polls, and the Party coalesces around him or her. This can easily be seen in the same polling concerning McCain, Romney and Huckabee. McCain outperforms Romney and Huckabee, signaling that he is the strongest candidate. Further, in a previous post, we revealed that Obama is losing support among core Democrats and that more people reported they preferred Hillary as the nominee than in May, before she suspended her campaign.

As for policies, Obama has flip-flopped so much, and simply failed to take a recognizable position so frequently, that his policies no longer represent Hillary’s (FYI: apostrophe “s” signifies possession, “ies” signifies plurality) and even if they did, there would be no way to tell whether he believed in those policies or not. Moreover, even if their policies were identical, Obama lacks the competency and ability to execute them.

Lastly, I find it comical that you accuse us of parroting Right wing talking points, when you were probably a member of the anti-Hillary chorus, spouting the Right Wing bullshit they have been throwing at Hillary and Bill since the 90’s.

We report facts here, and discuss issues. I’m sorry if you’re too sensitive to realize that poll numbers are not “Right wing talking points.”

Delusional!

that because both obama and mccain both suck big time. the are poor candidates. mccain will beat obama, biut he wont beat hillary, it that simple.

Deserved, albeit a bit late for Hilllary. When someone WINS 18 million votes! then is thrown in the trash can by Bill Richardson and the likes, it takes more than NY Times, CNN, MSN anf HuffPo to extinguish that appeal - but then, it’s more than a month to go to the Denver Convention - apologize, the Invesco smoothering Convention. So… it’s not over ’till it’s really over, baby

This site is hilarious. A bunch of Hillary supporters that are now going to cast their vote for McCain. This goes to show how ignorant each of you are. You supported a candidate who was for universal health care, wanted to end the war in Iraq, and supported Roe v. Wade. Now come November, you are going to cast your ballot for a man who opposes universal health care, said we may be in Iraq for another 100 years, and wants to overturn Roe v. Wade because it is a flawed decision — and you’re going to let him appoint a couple Supreme Court Justices — Wake Up People!!!!

You’ve got to be kidding me!!!
Are you people for real or is this some website put up by some backroom Republicans (Karl Rove for instance). If you don’t vote Democratic in this election and all your sons are drafted for the McCain war on Iran - don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Kurt, have you kept up with the news? Obama just changed all of his positions to match McCain. Policy-wise, there’s little difference between them now. He did the exact same thing with Hillary; copied her platform.

The real difference between McCain and Obama is CHARACTER and JUDGEMENT. Incidentally, Obama completely lacks these properties. There really is no choice but McCain or Clinton.

P.S. Have you seen the Obama debate? If not, you should check out the transcript:

http://fredshelm.wordpress.com/2008/07/14/the-great-obama-vs-obama-debate/

This is nuts. Honestly, what other kind of fantasies are you having? Reminds me of Keith Ohlbermann’s breathless announcement that newly discovered fraud in the Ohio vote was going to make Kerry President.
Put down the mouse and slowly back away from the computer

Gosh, the Obama supporters must be lonely.
Otherwise, why are they showing up in such large numbers trying so desperately to win friends and influence people?

Josgirl, I was thinking the very same thoughts that you so eloquently put into words.

Obama Supporters think that insulting us makes for a fantastic persuasive argument to join their side.

From what I have seen lately, Obama has changed his stances to be more like Bush than McCain could ever be. Not to mention the fact that he has no experience that qualifies him to be POTUS, he has the most corrupt, immoral, and anti-American friends I have ever seen a candidate have, and he will not supply his original birth certificate to the press to be verified (John McCain did). I really believe that if all the Wright, Ayers, and Rezko information had been out before half the primaries were over, we wouldn’t be in this mess. I think there were many with “buyer’s remorse” out there when it all came out. His vote for the FISA bill has lost him some of his core constituency, his new stance on abortion (ie. not allowed for the mental health of the mother, only physical emergency) will lose him votes from others. His unwillingness to debate (because he sucks at it), and his refusal to be on “ask the candidate” type shows (On The Record w/ Greta), only goes to show that he doesn’t want anyone to KNOW him until it’s too late to do anything about him.

Ben, open you eyes you arrogant fool. Osama, sorry, I mean Obama didn’t have enough pledged delgates to win. He won because the DNC pressured superdelegates to support him so they could tout the first black candidate. If Florida and Michegan were awarded early on to Hillary, she would have continued with her momentum which was stolen from her. She won all the important states, and he won the irrelevant caucuses, that are questionable. Open your eyes, only blacks and left wing extremists will vote for him in Novemember, if he actually wins the nomination prior to self destructing. Moderates and independents will go with McCain, a real American. He has earned it !!!!!

We as Americans need to run our Country not a Muslim. Barack I heard is not a citizen of the United States because his Mother came here to have him but she was only 17 and you had to be eighteen years of age for your child born here to be a U.S. Citizen. Please people Muslims have Arabia let them rule there.
Why do you suppose Barack does not speak of the white culture???? He is not a Black Man he is mostly Muslim like his FATHER. Be careful vote for America and what we stand for. I believe the picture on the cover of the New Yorker Magazine is correct the bump fist is what we need to be aware of and Michelle is AWARE of it

here here Joan. many feel the same way, it’s America. What kind of a name is that? Who ever heard of Barrack> Does Husein or Obama sound American to you?? These supporters are damned fools

Joan,

While I agree with your assertion that Obama may not be a United States citizen, due to his lack of producing a valid Birth Certificate and clarifying the circumstances surrounding his birth, I think it is inappropriate to use his Muslim heritage against him. If he is or has ever been a Muslim, I think he needs to be forthright about it. However, being a Muslim should not disqualify anyone from being the POTUS. Your dichotomy of American v.s. Muslim, is not accurate. Many Americans are Muslims, and the American melting pot/salad bowl is large enough for all of us, imho.

iamOnly1………..wrong….. the POTUS should be a real American…..a true American…..He is neither. You saw what the muslims did to please Allah. they can go to h*ll. Where are the outcry from American Muslims denouncing 911. I would vote for a Black, Hispanic or female POTUS, but not a Muslim….Open your eyes my friend

[...] is barely beating Senator McCain in recent polls, whereas Senator Clinton is having no problem soundly defeating McCain in current polls. The opportunity is ours, and we are trying to seize it by nominating the stronger candidate; [...]

The only reason the dems would lose is because of bs like this. They seem to not be able to come together. And by the way, if Hillary Clinton was running, the GOP would rip into her so hard, with all her scandal, etc. She’d be polling about 30 percent against McCain in every single state. She can’t compete and it’s too late. We all love Obama. Hillary did ok in the primary, but she’s just not what we want or the world. They don’t even think she can bring anything to the ticket as VP. I don’t want to see her as president. Obama’s our man. Period! Stop dreaming. Everyone in the stadium in Denver will walk out if Hillary’s out there trying to steal things again. No NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, she should be paying her debt. If she was all that popular, she shouldn’t even be in debt. Not enough support.

Hey Mr. Vegas…go back to the rest of the Obama zombies.

If you Obama fans can’t see that he is not strong enough to pull way ahead of McCain by now…. Then Your delusion will end in November….Gore and Kerry couldn’t pull it off and they were ahead of Bush by as much….which is NOT much….Too close for comfort.
Hillary IS the stronger candidate and her dirty laundry is old news….It would have no affect.

Can any Pro Obama Fanatic please list a reason
(Other than “Change” or because he’s sooo dreamy)
for anyone to vote for him? Oh an remember Zell Miller was a Democrat. He was a speaker at the REPUBLICAN Convention. So “Because Obama’s A Democrat won’t work either.

So Bring it. Why should I vote for Mr Dreamboat?

Ike
