Say what? Actually, the US cannot be considered one of the largest Muslim countries in the world considering that 99% of Americans are not Muslim by culture or by faith – less than one percent of Americans practice Islam.
Our cultural habits are Judeo-Christian — and still quite Puritanical unfortunately. As far as faith, we have no established religion and our public lives are secular.
This is the newly Muslim-and-Proud Obama pandering (uh oh, are apologies forthcoming?) and he deserves to be roundly laughed at.
My guess is that the population of US Muslims is around the 1-2 million mark. A lot of the more inflated numbers come from organizations like CAIR. It impresses the politicians.

Actually what he wants to convince the Muslim world is that he is “Al Mahdi”.
And many are being convinced of just that.

I’ve seen the estimates usually in the 5-7 million range (some as high as 9 mil, and some much much lower). My guess is we are at around 5 million, which does make us one of the largest muslim populations. So yes, by text, he’s probably accurate.
But come on, how many politicians have you seen that DON’T pander?
